Abstract
This article explores the historical and political dynamics surrounding the concept of Turkestan autonomy in Central Asia. Tracing its origins from the era of empires to the present day, the article examines the evolution of nationalist movements, Soviet rule, and post-Soviet developments that have shaped discussions on autonomy in the region. Through an analysis of key events, ideologies, and actors, it sheds light on the complexities and implications of seeking self-governance in a region characterized by diverse cultures and external influences.
