ON THE PROBLEM OF TRANSLATING ELEMENTS OF NATIONAL WORLDVIEW AND MENTALITY
Abstract
The greatest difficulty for translation is presented by details related to the mental characteristics, religion and worldview of native speakers of the original language. Sometimes even the most adequate translation from the point of view of the original and historical realities can cause misunderstanding among the reader of the translation. It is known that the mentality of a nation is determined by its beliefs, which means that it is as impossible to understand Uzbek literature without certain knowledge in the field of Islam as it is to try to comprehend Russian literature in isolation from the Christian tradition. Let's look at a few details of the novel related to the Muslim worldview. They are of a different nature: some reflect the peculiarities of the heroes’ worldview, others characterize their behavior, others have become an integral part of the nation’s way of life, so ignoring or inaccurately recreating them in translation can lead to serious problems in reflecting the national category in the novel.
